When I was thinking and praying through the name for The Wild Amen — this mission, this podcast, and everything it represents — the story from Mark 4:35–41 came to mind. Jesus and His disciples are out on the Sea of Galilee when a wild storm hits — waves crashing, wind howling, water splashing into the boat. And the disciples are panicking. But Jesus, asleep at first, stands and says, “Peace. Be still.” And suddenly… the chaos obeys Him.
Mathew 4:35-41
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
For the Jewish people, the sea wasn’t just water — it symbolized chaos, darkness, and the untamed forces of the world. So when Jesus spoke, He wasn’t just calming the weather. He was showing that even the wildest, most uncontrollable forces bow to Him.
That’s really where The Wild Amen comes from.
Life can feel wild — messy, unpredictable, joyful, and holy all at once. But amen — that’s our anchor. It means so be it. It’s our quiet surrender in the middle of the storm, a way of saying, “Even here, Lord, I trust You.”
The wild reminds us how much we need Him.
The amen reminds us that He is faithful.
That’s what we’re about — creating space for women to meet God in both the wild and the still. Through honest conversation, stripped-down worship, and authentic community, our hope is to point women back to the One who speaks peace over chaos, turning the storms of life into invitations to trust Him more deeply.
Because when the waves rise, His voice still carries — and that’s where we find our wild amen.
With Joy,

Rachel Barker
